Overview

Birdsong Hearing Benefits™ LLC, (BHB) is a hearing benefits manager that views hearing care as total care. We provide Medicare Advantage, including all lines of business in government programs, along with commercial solutions for the most under-utilized supplemental benefit: Hearing.
 
The Senior Accountant at Birdsong Hearing Benefits (BHB) plays a critical role within the Finance Department, supporting the Controllership function and contributing to the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented, and analytically minded professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and values continuous improvement.
 
This individual will be responsible for preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, generating internal and external financial reports, and supporting audits and tax filings. The Senior Accountant will also work closely with the Controller to ensure robust internal controls and accurate financial reporting across all business units associated with BHB.
 
This position operates in a hybrid work model, with the Senior Accountant working 2–3 days per week from the Jacksonville, FL office.
 

Responsibilities

- Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures, including preparation of journal entries for BHB and related entities.
- Prepare and analyze monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Develop and distribute timely financial statements and reports for both internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing, automating, and scaling accounting processes and systems.
- Support the documentation and enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve operational efficiency and compliance.
- Collaborate with external auditors by preparing necessary schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned to support the needs of the organization.

Qualifications

- Experience: Minimum 2 years of progressive accounting or finance experience; experience in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred.
- Education: Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Technology: Demonstrated proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat is also required.

This role works out of the office but may be asked to work at home and/or be remote at times. You will need the following when working from home:
- Reliable and secure Internet Service Provider at home (no public WiFi) for duration of working hours
- Sufficient room to set up a laptop, monitors, keyboard and mouse
- Comfortable space to work for duration of working hours
- Quiet, private and secure space in which to work

The base pay for this position is expected to be between $85,000 to $95,000 + bonus; however, while the salary range is effective as of the date of this posting, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including but not limited to experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as bonus, commissions, or discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
