Overview

Birdsong is seeking a Chief Growth Officer (CGO) to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive growth, retention, and penetration strategy for Birdsong Hearing Benefits clients by driving sales through health plans and partner clients for hearing benefit management. Accountabilities of this role include the execution of all sales activities, in partnership with the President and Senior Leadership team, building and executing on revenue targets, development and acquisition of new business, retaining and growing client portfolios of services, and working with marketing and client services, along with key functional support areas, to acquiring new business within existing business. This role requires a ‘go to- hands on leader’ with a ‘win attitude’- ability to work on tactical logistics to strategic development of the sales footprint.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of scaling sales in a healthcare and managed care environment, with the leadership capability to inspire high-performing teams, align cross-functional efforts, and be a strategic thought partner to the executive team. Robust managed care understanding with relationships and network built upon working directly with health plans. Birdsong is a Third-Party Administrator, and First Down Streamed Entity of a health plan. Birdsong contracts directly with health plans, national, integrated, and single sourced health plans in all lines of business—Medicare Advantage being the predominate line of business relative to hearing benefit management, however successful candidate must have a strong understanding of Commercial, ASO, employer and union groups, Medicaid, etc. 
As a member of the executive leadership team, the CGO will play a critical role in shaping company strategy and driving market expansion while ensuring that Birdsong maintains a strong brand presence and client-centric approach. This role represents the Birdsong brand and values of our company and should be a champion of sharing how Birdsong Hearing benefits differentiates the health plans we work with to elevate high quality hearing care.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead and align all growth-related sales functions, to create an integrated and high-performing growth engine. Lead client success to penetrate current market---- be a disruptive contributor to gain market footprint.
- Drive revenue through all lines of business associated with health plan contracting. Ensure health plans and employer clients are of aware of Birdsong, specific to its service offerings and value proposition to the market.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy that encompasses new customer acquisition, existing customer expansion, retention, and the offering of new services growth, and partner ecosystem development.
- Drive the go-to-market sales strategy, aligning product markets fit with sales execution and marketing outreach. Continuing the foundation of raising awareness of Birdsong Hearing Benefits offering to the health plan market as an HBM.
- Partner with marketing and ensure sales and client success has what it needs to be successful to engage plans/employers and deliver on hearing benefit acquisition goals.
- Accurately forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and set performance targets across sales and revenue, in conjunction with finance and product for the organization.
- Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional sales talent to scale operations nationally. Initially working as the key sales representative, work toward the building out of a national and regional approach to scaling sales staffing. Establish, mentor, and grow a high performing ‘hungry’ sales team, including putting in place development and performance metrics aligned to company goals.
- Partner with marketing to improve lead generation, campaign effectiveness, and brand recognition.
- Continuously drive innovation sales strategies with marketing and brand support to penetrate sales strategies that keep Birdsong ahead of the competition and ensure that mid-point refresh to strategy accommodate any changes in corporate strategy, direction of market, or regulatory happenings.
- This role is expected to leverage professional networks, including that of the senior leadership team and serve as the voice, in conjunction with the President, selling services and capabilities.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally with constituent groups.
- This role is a “roll up your sleeves” mentality—from setting up booths, organizing events for sales, to managing the booth at conferences, to speaking engagements and partnering with President for opportunities to expand the brand.  
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with product, finance, and operations to optimize pricing as tied to sales, customer onboarding with client services, and feedback loops.
- Monitor the sales and revenue pipeline; develop metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to ensure transparency and accountability. Work with reporting to ensure accurate management of metrics and repository.
- Serve as executive sponsor for key accounts and partnerships; build and nurture relationships with top-tier clients and stakeholders.
- Represent Birdsong at industry conferences, trade shows, and external forums. In partnership with senior leadership team, construct sales strategy via conferences and brand exposure based on best practices and experiences.
- Contribute to the overall corporate strategy as a key member of the executive leadership team.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Leadership & Strategy
- Proven leadership experience (10+ years) scaling a sales organization in managed care, hearing care, or broader healthcare markets, from either a health plan, supplemental benefit provider or health provider.
- Demonstrated success in setting vision and strategy across multiple revenue streams (sales, marketing, partnerships).
- Track record of building high-performing, accountable, and mission-driven teams.
Domain Expertise
- Deep understanding of U.S. managed care and Medicare Advantage programs, ideally including supplemental benefits and hearing healthcare.
- Experience driving commercial strategy within payer-provider dynamics or benefits management companies.
- Familiarity with government and commercial payer models and value-based care.
- In-depth knowledge of greater healthcare landscape and profound understanding of the trends, challenges, and opportunities facing the industry.
People Management
- Proven track record in recruiting, developing, and retaining senior leaders in both sales and marketing.
- High emotional intelligence with a collaborative leadership style and ability to motivate teams across departments.
Executional Excellence
- Data-driven decision-making mindset with experience optimizing dashboards, CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), and marketing automation systems.
- Ability to interpret and act on complex financial and market data to refine and execute revenue plans.
- Bias for action. Thinker who is strategic yet also pragmatic and operationally oriented; understands how to implement ideas, meet deadlines, and influences and partners with teams in a positive, proactive manner. Strong emotional intelligence.
- Understanding of value-based contracting (VBC) experience preferred.
- Start-up experience is strongly preferred.
- Understands the provider and health plan contracting side with experience in negotiating and recognizing key competence needed to successful onboard clients.
- Effective at navigating change, managing competing priorities, and scaling sales operations.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred (with emphasis on business, marketing, or healthcare administration).
